Rosie the Riveter Visitor Education Center Closed During Federal Shutdown — Park Sites Remain Accessible

Oct. 3, 2025

Richmond, CA  - Due to the federal government shutdown that began on Oct. 1, 2025, the Visitor Education Center at Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front National Historical Park located at the Ford Assembly Plant in the historic Oil House at 1414 Harbour Way South in Richmond, CA, is closed until further notice.

Much of the park locations remain accessible, including sites along Richmond’s bay trail waterfront, such as the Rosie the Riveter Memorial, Kaiser Shipyards, SS Red Oak Victory Ship, and other landmark locations. There are also interpretive signs along the bay trail and a special outdoor exhibit along the trail next to the visitor center called the Wall of Honor, celebrating Rosie the Riveters and home front workers.

You can also explore the WWII Home Front legacy all around us in Richmond, find virtual and driving tours, watch films including the famed No Time to Waste: The Urgent Mission of Betty Reid Soskin and learn through these resources:
