The Alliance functions as a catalyst for its members to develop innovative new approaches to engage the public through joint marketing programs, public projects, and creative mutually beneficial partnerships.

"If you want to learn about the World War II Homefront, there is no better classroom than the San Francisco Bay Area. We have historic ships that are open to the public (and some of them even cruise the Bay!), and we have sites such as shipyards, military bases, and other infrastructure that supported the massive war effort. Many of these important resources have been preserved and are open to the public for entertainment and education. Best of all for local residents, they are each within less than a day's traveling time from anywhere in the Bay Area. Today, we are announcing that many of these sites and organizations have banded together to form the World War II Homefront Alliance, which will provide a unified story of World War II in the Bay Area while continuing to preserve the unique nature and contribution of each organization."
