Immerse yourself in the stories of the people who made up the American home front by exploring historic waterfront shipyards near the Ford Assembly Plant and the Oil House Visitor Education Center. Learn about the daily life of a welder or riveter, American ingenuity in health and family care, the industrial innovations that shaped the course of victory, and the victories of those who struggled for workplace equality. Spend an adventurous day at one of the most unique national parks in the U.S. and celebrate the legacy of Rosie the Riveter.

 

Hours: Open 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., 7 days per week, excluding the following three holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day

Rosie the Riveter / World War II Home Front National Historical Park is located on the San Francisco Bay in Richmond, California. Because Richmond contains more intact WWII Home Front sites than any other place in the USA, it was designated as the "flagship" site for telling the Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front story in the year 2000. We invite you to explore, learn and celebrate the social and cultural changes that took place during this pivotal time in history.
 

A number of sights have been chosen to represent the home front story throughout Richmond, including the SS Red Oak Victory Ship, the Whirley Crane, the Rosie the Riveter Memorial at Marina Bay Park, the Japanese American Nurseries, and many more.
